3、arsand,infact,engineered,overtwocenturies,ourpresentfiscalandphysicalsituation.AspostmodernsociologistZygmuntBaumanputsit,Thekindofsocietythat,retrospectively,cametobecalledmodern,emergedoutofthediscoverythathumanorderisvulnerable,contingentanddevoidofreliablefoundations.Thatdiscoverywasshockin
4、g.Theresponsetotheshockwasadreamandanefforttomakeordersolid,obligatoryandreliablyfounded.Thisresponseproblematizedcontingencyasanenemyandorderasatask.Itdevaluedanddemonizedthe'raw'humancondition.Itpromptedanincessantdrivetoeliminatethehap-hazardandannihilatethespontaneous.(xi)So,modernitygaveus
