2、ngapapertothejournal.AgoodpaperintheJMPTmakesacontributiontoknowledgebyprovidinginsightsintotheinfluenceofaprocessonmaterialinawaythatwillbeusefultoothersinfuture.Theknowledgemaybecodedasanequation,orformulatedinsomeconcisestatements,butmustalwaysbesupportedbye

3、xperimentalortheoreticalevidencethatallowsthereadertojudgeitsvalue.Theauthorsopinionsareofverylittlevalueinajournalpaper:claimingthatanewtheoryormodelis‘good’or‘successful’isunconvincing,butprovidingevidencethatallowsascepticalreadertoevaluatethetheory,isvaluab

4、le.Accordingly,weproposehereamodelofagoodpaperasadefencecaseinacourttrialinwhichtheauthorsareaccusedthattheirworkhasnovalue.Inwritingthepaper,theauthorsmustanticipatealloftheargumentsthattheprosecution(thereviewers)mayputtothem,andrespondtothemwithevidence.Thes
