4、erformancesintermsofefficiencyandcompliancetointernationalstandards,suchasIEC-1000-3-2andIEEE-519.Inparticular,intheelevatorfield,themarketrequiresapartfromtherespectoftheabovestandardsbothanincreaseofthedriveefficiencyandareductionofthemaximumpowerdemandfromtheutility.Theachievementofth
5、eabovetargetsdeeplyinfluencesthestructureoftherequiredconversionsystem.Inparticular,aninterfacecircuitwhichperformsthepowerqualitycontrolandatthesametimeincreasesthedriveefficiencyhastobeused.Startingfromthepowerqualitycontroltheuseoffront-endinverterallowseasilyachievingpowerqualitycont
6、rol[1]-[9].Thissolutionallowseliminatingthebrakeresistor,butitoftendoesnotofferarealeconomicadvantagefortheenduserbecausemanyutilitiesdonotpermittocapitalisethesavingsduetotheenergyrecovery.Aninterestingalternativesolutioncanberepresentedbytheuseoftwodifferentcircuits:aPowerFactorCorrect
7、ion(PFC)[10]-[18]forthepowerqualitycontrolandasupercapacitorenergystoragesystemtobothincreasethemotionsystemefficiencyandatthesametimeeliminatethebrakeresistor.Besidesthissolutioncanbeeasilyusedtocontrolthepowerdemandfromutilityandconsequentlyreducethecostbothoftheutility
