2、20May1986,accepted1August1986)SummaryInjectionofsodiumuratecrystalsintooneanklejointintheratproducesarthritiswhichisfullydevelopedwithin24h.Thetime-courseanddose-responseofassociatedinflammationandsensoryabnormalitiesaredesctibed.Followingintra-articularsodiumurateratsreducetheweightplacedo
3、nthepawofthetreatedhindlimbanddevelopalimpintheirgait.Theankleswellsandbecomesmoresensitivetopressureandpassivemovements.Touch,pressureandthermalstimuliappliedtothefootdistaltothetreatmentproducedecreasedresponses,presumablybecauseactiveflexionmovementsarenoxious.Jointpathologyisreflectedby
4、tissueoedemaandtheinfiltrationofpolymorphonuclearleucocytes.However,thereisnodestructionordecreaseindensityofbone.Itisproposedthatthismodelofarthritismayhaveethicalandscientificadvantagesoveradjwantarthritisinthestudyofsomeaspectsoftheneuralmechanismsofarthritis.Keywords:Anklejointarthritis
