4、,withpossiblefertilitycosts.Herewetestdirectlywhethercontraceptivepillusealtersodourpreferencesusingalongitudinaldesigninwhichwomenweretestedbeforeandafterinitiatingpilluse;acontrolgroupofnon-usersweretestedwithacomparableintervalbetweentestsessions.Incontrasttosomeprevi

5、ousstudies,therewasnosignificantdifferenceinratingsbetweenodoursofMHC-dissimilarandMHC-similarmenamongwomenduringthefollicularcyclephase.However,singlewomenpreferredodoursofMHC-similarmen,whilewomeninrelationshipspreferredodoursofMHC-dissimilarmen,aresultconsistentwithstu

6、diesinotherspecies,suggestingthatpairedfemalesmayseektoimproveoffspringqualitythroughextra-pairpartnerships.Acrosstests,wefoundasignificantpreferenceshifttowardsMHCsimilarityassociatedwithpilluse,whichwasnotevidentinthecontrolgroup.Ifodourplaysaroleinhumanmatechoice,ourre
