1、AnalysisofInterfacialShearStrengthofSiCFiberReinforced7075AluminumCompositebyPushoutMicroindentationLIANG-GUANGCHEN,SU-JIENLIN,andSHOU-YICHANGTheinterfacialshearstrengthofcontinuoussiliconcarbidefiberreinforced7075aluminummatrixcomposite(SiCf/7075Al)hasbeeninvestigatedinthisresearchbypushoutmicro
2、indentation.TheSiCf/7075AlcompositespecimenswereprocessedbydiffusionbondingalternatelayersofSiCfibersand7075Alalloyplates.Fromthemeasuredstress-displacementcurvesofindentationtests,theinter-facialshearstrengthsofthecompositespecimenswereobtained,andthestress-displacementcurveswerebasicallydivided
3、intotworegions:(1)elasticdeformationand(2)interfacedecohesionandfibersliding.Withincreasingagingtime,theinterfacialshearstrengthofthecompositeincreasedto167MPaforT6-treatedspecimens,andthevariationoftheinterfacialshearstrengthwellfollowedthatoftheultimatetensilestrengthof7075Almatrixalloy.Withdec
4、reasingspecimenthickness,theinterfacialshearstrengthofthecompositeandtheamplitudeofstressfluctuationslightlydecreasedbecauseofthestressrelaxationeffectnearspecimensurfaces.Underhigherindentationvelocities,boththeinterfacialshearstrengthandtheamplitudeofstressfluctuationbecamesmaller.I.INTRODUCTIO
5、Nthepreparationofthespecialsingle-fiberpulloutspecimens.Byusingthefiberfragmentationtest,thecompositespecimensFORdecades,researchonnewmaterialswithlowdensities,arefirsttensiletested,duringwhichtheembeddedcontinu-highstrengths,highstiffness,highfracturetoughness,highousfibersarefragmented,followed
6、bymatrixetchingandfiberthermalconductivities,andlowcoefficientsofthermalexpan-extracting.Thelengthdistributionofthefragmentedfibersission(CTEs)fortheapplicationstoaerospace,automobile,elec-thenmeasuredtocalculatetheinterfacialshearstrength.Thistricalcontact,andevenelectronicpackagingindustrieshav
7、emethodisapplicableforceramicfiberreinforcedmetalmatrixbeenoftremendousinteresttomaterialsscientists.[1,2,3]Amongcomposites,butitsrequirementisthattheelongationofthethesenewmaterials,metalmatrixcomposites,whichcombinem
