1、OntheEnergyRequiredtoEjectProcessedMatterfromGalaxiesSergiySilich1,2andGuillermoTenorio-Tagle1ABSTRACTWeevaluatetheminimumenergyinputratethatstarburstsrequireforexpellingtheirnewlyprocessedmatterfromtheirhostgalaxies.Specialattentionisgiventothepressurecaus
2、edbytheenvironmentinwhichagalaxyissituated,aswellastotheintrinsicrotationofthegaseouscomponent.Weaccountforthesefactorsandforamassivedarkmatterdistribution,anddevelopaself-consistentsolutionfortheinterstellarmattergasdistribution.Ourresultsareinexcellentagr
3、eementwiththeresultsofMacLow&Ferrara(1999)forgalaxieswithaflatteneddisk-likeISMdensitydistributionandalowintergalacticgaspressure(P/k≤1cm−3K).IGMHowever,oursolutionalsorequiresamuchlargerenergyinputratethresholdwhenonetakesintoconsiderationbothalargerinterga
