5、erthelastdecadeorsoandhassoughttopresentachallengetothepredominantlymaterialistlinefoundinthemoreconventionaldisabilitystudiesapproaches.Inmuchthesamewaythattheoriginaldevelopmentofthesocialmodelresultedinanecessarycorrectiontotheoverlyindividualizedaccountsofdisabilitythatprevailedinm

6、uchoftheinterpretiveaccountswhichthendominatedmedicalsociology,sotoohasCDSchallengedthematerialistlineofdisabilitystudies.Inthispaperwereviewtheideasbehindthisdevelopmentandanalyseandcritiquesomeofitskeyideas.Thepaperstartswithabriefoverviewofthemaintheoristsandapproachescontainedwithi
