2、zword,usedinanyandeverycontext.Ininternationaldiscoursesbothofficialandnon-officialinthecontextofthe‘interdependence’ofeconomiesandnations.Theword‘globalisation’hasevolvedovertime,butithasassumedmoreprominencesincetheendofthecoldwarandrapidliberationofemergingeconomies.Sincethewh

3、oleprocessisaboutdevelopmentandtransformationtheprocessofglobalizationhasbecomethenecessaryconsequenceoftheeconomicdevelopment,whichisthepursuitofmostmodernmarketeconomiesleadingtointerconnectednessofmosteconomies.ItisagainstthisbackdropthattheAfricaneconomycannotaffordtobedorman

4、tsinceanationwithaclosedeconomywithfewrelationswiththerestoftheworldisnolongerdesirableorpracticable.ItishowevernecessarythattheAfricaneconomymustadopttheneededmeasurestomaximizetheenormousbenefitsfromitsinvolvementintheglobalisationprocesswhiletryingtowadeoffitsadverseconsequenc

5、es.Thispaperisthereforecenteredontheconceptsofglobalisationanddevelopment;therelationship(orlinkage)betweenthetwotermsandtheimplicationsandsuggestedsolutionsforAfrican(Economic)developmentandgrowth.ItisagainstthisbackdropthatthisworkportraysrealitiesoftheunderdevelopednatureofAfr
