2、ycomprehensiveintroductionofconcepts,activities,skillsandchallengesofprojectmanagement.Studentswillexplorefundamentalissuesofmanagingrealworldprojectsaswellastheinternationalbestpracticetoolsthataddresstheseissues.Studentswillworktogethertoformaprojectteam,performtheke
3、yactivitiesofprojectmanagement,anddevelopaprojectroadmapattheendofthecourse.2.CourseObjectivesandLearningOutcomesExpectedThiscourseaimstopreparestudentsforthechallengesofconductingscholarlyresearchintheprojectmanagementorrelatedfields.Comparedwithundergraduatelevelcour
4、ses,andconsistentwiththemultidisciplinarybackgroundoftheclass,thiscourseemphasizestheoretical-orientedratherthantool-oriented.Studentscanthusexpecttodevelopafullerappreciationofthe"research-practice-research"paradigminthisfield.Thisimpliesanunderstandingofthesocialfoun
5、dationsandtheoreticallimitationsofprojectmanagementresearchandpractices.Asaresultofthiscourse,studentswillbeableto:(a)obtainaholisticviewregardingthechallengesanddynamicsofprojectmanagementthroughoutprojectlifecycle;(b)makesenseofcriticalknowledge,principles,tools,andt
6、echniquesinProjectManagementthatcanbeappliedtoachieveexpectedprojectperformance;(c)appreciatemajorresearchparadigmsinthefield;(d)formulatetheoreticallygroundedresearchquestions;(e)conductcase-basedresearchinthefieldintermsofempiricalmethodscommonlyusedinthefield(e.g.ar
7、chives,interviews,questionnairesurvey,andinterviews).3.TeachingmethodsThecoursewillbetaughtinlectures(3hours*12weeks).Bothclassicandstate-ofthe-artreadingsfromtheacademicliterature(articles,monographsandkeytexts)willformthebaseofclassdiscussion.Notethatattendanceatlect
