2、eliteratureconsiderstheconsequencesoffostercareplacementforchildren’swellbeing,nostudyhasusedanationallyrepresentativesampleofUSchildrentocomparethementalandphysicalhealthofchildrenplacedinfostercaretothehealthofchildrennotplacedinfostercare.METHODS:Weuseddatafrom
3、the2011–2012NationalSurveyofChildren’sHealth,anationallyrepresentativesampleofnoninstitutionalizedchildrenintheUnitedStates,andlogisticregressionmodelstocompareparent-reportedmentalandphysicalhealthoutcomesofchildrenplacedinfostercaretooutcomesofchildrennotplacedi
4、nfostercare,childrenadoptedfromfostercare,childrenacrossspecificfamilytypes(eg,single-motherhouseholds),andchildrenineconomicallydisadvantagedfamilies.RESULTS:Wefindthatchildreninfostercareareinpoormentalandphysicalhealthrelativetochildreninthegeneralpopulation,ch
5、ildrenacrossspecificfamilytypes,andchildrenineconomicallydisadvantagedfamilies.Somedifferencesareexplainedbyadjustingforchildren’sdemographiccharacteristics,andnearlyalldifferencesareexplainedbyalsoadjustingforthecurrenthomeenvironment.Additionally,childrenadopted
