3、COMMENTSThisannualsurveycoversthe1iteraturefor1974dealingwiththeuseoftransitionmetalintermediatesfororganicsynthetictransformations.Itisnotacomprehensivereview,butislimitedtoreportsofdiscretesystemsthatleadtoatleastmoderateyieldsoforganiccompounds,orthatallowuniqueorganictransforma
4、tions,eveniflowyieldsareobtained.Catalyticreactionsthatleadcleanlytoamajorproductanddonotinvolveextremeconditionsarealsoincluded.Thepapersinthissurveyaregroupedprimarilybyreactiontyperatherthanbyorganometallicreagent,sincethereaderislikelytobemoreinterestedintheorganictransformatio
5、neffectedthanthemetalcausingit.Specificallyexcludedarepapersdealingwithtransitionmetalcatalyzedhydrosilation,sincethesearecoveredbyanothersurveyinthisseries.Alsoexcludedarestructuralandmechanisticstudiesoforganometallicsystemsunlesstheypresentdatausefulforsyntheticapplication.Final
