2、oiceofapointofview,ratherthantoanypeculiarityinthefacts,articlesoftheory,ormethodofargumentemployed.Thepointofviewisthatgivenbythebusinessman'swork,--theaims,motives,andmeansthatconditioncurrentbusinesstraffic.Thischoiceofapointofviewisitselfgivenbythecurrenteconomicsitua
3、tion,inthatthesituationplainlyisprimarilyabusinesssituation.Amuchmoreextendedanddetailedexaminationoftheramificationsandconsequencesofbusinessenterpriseandbusinessprincipleswouldfeasible,andshouldgiveinterestingresults.Itmightconceivablyleadtosomethingofarevision(moderniz
4、ation)ofmorethanonepointinthecurrentbodyofeconomicdoctrines.Butitshouldapparentlyprovemoreparticularyinterestingifitwerefollowedupatlargeinthebearingofthismodernforceuponculturalgrowth,apartfromwhatisofimmediateeconomicinterest.Thisculturalbearingofbusinessenterprise,howe
5、ver,belongsratherinthefieldofthesociologistthaninthatoftheprofessedeconomist;sothatthepresentinquiry,initslaterchapters,sinsratherbyexceedingthelegitimateboundsofeconomicdiscussiononthisheadthanbyfallingshortofthem.Inextenuationofthisfaultitissaidthatthefeaturesofgeneralc
