2、ndproblemsofnumericalprecision.Inthispaperweextendtheconceptofasingleshadowmapbyintroducingdualshadowmaps,whicharebasedonthetwodepthlayersthatareclosesttothelightsource.Ourshadowalgorithmtakesintoaccountthesetwodepthvaluesandcomputesanadaptivedepthbiastoachievearobustdeterminat

3、ionofshadowedregions.Dualdepthmappingonlymodiestheconstructionoftheshadowmapandcanthereforebecombinedwithotherextensionssuchasltering,perspectiveshadowmaps,oradaptiveshadowmaps.Ourapproachcanbemappedtographicshardwareforinteractiveapplicationsandcanalsobeusedinhigh-qualitysof
