3、xtremelytedious.Thus,thegovernmenttriestomaximisetheperformanceoftheexistinginfrastructureusingdynamiccontrolsystems.Thedevelopmentanddeploymentofautonomousdrivenvehiclescanhavepositiveeffectsonthecapacityofroadelements.Inthisstudytheeffectofdynamiccontrolsystemsonthetrafficfl
4、owonmotorwaysisanalysedincasestudiesusingmicroscopictrafficsimulation.Furthermoreitisoutlinedthatautonomousdrivinginanenvironmentwhereaccesstothemotorwayislimitedtoautonomousvehiclesonlycanhaveapositiveeffectintermsofhighercapacitiesandmoreharmonizedtrafficresultinginfewertraf

7、valuationofdynamiccontrolsystems.Moreover,theycannotregarddistinctivelocalbehaviouralpatternsthatmayhaveasignificantinfluenceonmotorwaycapacity.However,itisrequiredtopredicttheeffectsofasystemquitepreciselybeforedecidingonimplementingadynamictrafficcontrolsystem.Inthispaperthe
