4、dstiffnessoftheleavesofthespringaremod-eledusingthefiniteelementfloatingframeofreferenceformulationthataccountsfortheeffectofthenonlineardynamiccouplingbetweenthefiniterotationsandtheleafdeformation.Theleafspringgeometryanddeformationsaremodeledusingnodaldegr
5、eesoffreedomdefinedwithrespecttothespringbodycoordinatesystem.Byassumingthattheleafdeformationcanbelargebuttheleafdeformedshaperemainssimple,componentmodesynthesistechniquescanbeusedtosignificantlyreducethenumberofdeformationcoordinates.Thenonlinearstiffnes
6、smatrixisfirstdevelopedforthefiniteelementofeachleafandisusedtodeterminetheoverallleafspringstiffnessmatrix.Thepre-stresses,thecontactandfrictionthatcharacterizethenonlinearbehaviorofleafspringsarediscussed.Usingthenonlinearleafspringformulationpresentedint
