5、ycryptographicpseudonyms.Theresultingsystemfacilitatesinformationsharingbetweenorganizationsthattypicallyarenotallowedtoexchangethemicrodatatheyown.1IntroductionIndividualdatarecordsareessentialforempiricalresearch,andyetduetotheverypreciousinformationtheycontain,theirdirectrel
6、easethwartstheconfidentialityoftheindividualsconcerned.Thefactthatresearchisinterestedincollectivefeaturesratherthanindividualdistinctiveness,makesitpossibletoreconciledatautilityandindividualconfidentiality:dataidentifierscanberemovedorencodedanddatafieldscanbemodifiedbymeansofstat
