3、urrentevidenceconcerningtheimpactofmaternalVDdeficiencyonbraindevelopmentandfunctioninoffspring.AsystematicsearchwasconductedwithinMedline(onOvid)forstudiespublishedthrough7May2015.AnimalandhumanstudiesthatexaminedassociationsbetweenmaternalVDstatusordevelopm
4、entalVDdeficiencyandoffspringbraindevelopmentandfunctionwereincluded.Atotalof26animalstudiesand10humanstudiesmettheinclusioncriteria.SeveralanimalstudiesconfirmedthehypothesisthatlowprenatalVDstatusmayaffectbrainmorphologyandphysiologyaswellasbehavioraloutcome
5、s.Inhumans,subtlecognitiveandpsychologicalimpairmentsinoffspringofVD-deficientmotherswereobserved.However,dataobtainedfromanimalandhumanstudiesprovideinconclusiveevidence,andresultsseemtodependonstrainorraceandageofoffspring.Toconclude,prenatalVDstatusisthoug
6、httoplayanatTUFTSUNIVERSITYonJuly16,2016importantroleinbraindevelopment,cognitivefunction,andpsychologicalfunction.However,resultsareinconclusive;validationofthesefindingsandinvestigationofunderlyingmechanismsarerequired.Thus,moreinvestigationisneededbeforere
