1、TechnicalNoteSolvingGroundwaterFlowInverseProblemUsingSpreadsheetSolverRajibKumarBhattacharjya1Abstract:Asimplespreadsheetcell-orientedmethodologyisproposedforsolvingagroundwaterflowinverseproblem.Initially,thenumericalsimulationofthegroundwaterflowprocessiscarriedoutby

2、usinganembeddedoptimizationapproachandspreadsheetsolver.TheresultofthesimulationiscomparedwiththeresultofaGMSMODFLOWsimulation.ThecomparisonshowsthattheresultofthespreadsheetsimulationissimilartotheresultoftheGMSMODFLOWsimulation.Twogroundwaterinverseproblemsarethensolv

3、edusingtheproposedmethodology.Thefirstproblemestimatestheunknownpumpingratesofanaquifer,andthesecondproblemestimatestheaquifertransmissivity.Usingthespreadsheetmethod,itiseasytodefineboundaryconditionsandtoinitializestartingvaluesaswellastheirvisualization.Themethodolog
