2、icantimplicationsfortherealizationofthe“WebofServices”vision.“Semanticwebservices”useformalsemanticdescriptionsofwebservicefunctionalityandinterfacetoenableautomatedreasoningoverwebservicecompositions.Tojudgethequalityoftheoverallcomposition,forexample,wecans
3、tartbycalculatingthesemanticsimilaritiesbetweenoutputsandinputsofconnectedconstituentservices,andaggregatethesevaluesintoameasureofsemanticqualityforthecomposition.Thispapertakesaspecificinterestincombiningsemanticandnonfunctionalcriteriasuchasqualityofservic
4、e(QoS)toevaluatequalityinwebservicescomposition.Itproposesanovelandextensiblemodelbalancingthenewdimensionofsemanticquality(asafunctionalqualitymetric)withaQoSmetric,andusingthemtogetherasrankingandoptimizationcriteria.ItalsodemonstratestheutilityofGeneticAlg
5、orithmstoallowoptimizationwithinthecontextofalargenumberofservicesforeseenbythe“WebofServices”vision.Wetesttheperformanceoftheoverallapproachusingasetofsimulationexperiments,anddiscussitsadvantagesandweaknesses.IndexTerms—Webservice,semanticweb,ontology,descr
