2、ughinnovationinsoftwaretestingbecauseitcompletelyautomatesthevalidationtestingprocess.Model-basedtestingtoolsautomaticallygeneratetestcasesfromamodelofthesoftwareproduct.Thegeneratedtestsareexecutableandincludeanoraclecomponentwhichassignsapass/failverdicttoeachtest.Model-basedtestinghelps
3、toensurearepeatableandscientificbasisforproducttesting,givesgoodcoverageofallthebehaviorsoftheproductandallowsteststobelinkeddirectlytorequirements.Intensiveresearchonmodel-basedtestinginthelast5-10yearshasdemonstratedthefeasibilityofthisapproach,shownthatitcanbecost-effective,andhasdevelope
4、davarietyoftestgenerationstrategiesandmodelcoveragecriteria.Somecommercialtoolshavestartedtoemerge,fromtheUSA(T-Vec,ReactiveSystems,I-logix),andalsofromEurope(Conformiq,LeiriosTechnologies,Telelogic),aswellasawidevarietyofacademicandresearchtools[BFS05].Thediscussioninthispaperislimitedtof
5、unctionaltesting,ratherthanthemorespecialistareasoftestingreal-timesoftwareorconcurrentsoftware,becausemodel-basedtestingislessmatureintheseareas.Thepapergivesanoverviewofthevarietyofmethodsandpracticesofmodel-basedtesting,thenspeculatesonhowmodel-basedtestingmightpromoteorcomplementthepro
