2、ionwasintroducedin2011,themomentmanyindustryanalystscitedasthestartofthemodernSDNmovement.YetproductiondeploymentsofSDNusingOpenFlowtechnology(especiallyin1thedatacenter)aswellassoftware-basednetworkoverlays,arestillintheirinfancy.ManyITprofessionalsviewoperations,scalabil

3、ity,andreliabilityasnewchallengesthatSDNtechnologiesmustaddress.InNovember2013,CiscoannouncedtheacquisitionofInsiemeNetworks.Indoingso,Ciscoalsoannouncedits®strategytoaddressthechallengesthatSDNistryingtosolve,throughtheintroductionofCiscoApplicationCentricInfrastructure(A

4、CI).CiscoACInotonlyaddressesthechallengesofcurrentnetworkingtechnologiesthatOpenFlowandsoftware-basedoverlaynetworksaretryingtoaddress,butitalsopresentssolutionstothenewchallengesthatSDNtechnologiesarecreating.Thisdocumentanalyzesthebenefitsandlimitationsofcurrentnetworkin
