1、ThedisadvantagesandadvantagesofstressModernsocietyisfastpacedanddailylifehasagreatdealofworkandstudy.Therefore,thereareagreatdealofstressappeared,suchasjobpressureforworkers,studypressureforstudents,economicpressureforfamiliesandpeoplewhohaveresponsibilitytosociety.Howev
2、er,stresshasbothnegativeandpositiveinfluences.Thisessaywilltrytodemonstratethedisadvantagesandadvantagesofstress.Therearetwomaindisadvantagesofstress.Oneofthemaindisadvantagesisitcouldleadtohealthproblems.Thatis,stresscouldbringaboutbothphysicalandpsychologicaldiseases,a
3、ccordingtoEdworthy(2000),“highbloodpressure,heartdisease,asthmaandulcers,andunlessthepressureisremoveditwillultimatelyleadtodeath”.Forexample,especiallywhenpeoplehavedifficultjob,theystayinaharmfulandpoorenvironment.Thesepeoplemaylacksleep,oftenhaveirregularlife-styles,a
4、ndasaresult,theycouldgetdiseaseseasily.People’sphysicalhealthdeteriorationandtheirpsychologicalproblemsmaybecomeunstableconditionswhichaffectfamiliesandsociety.Anotherdisadvantageisthatpeoplewhoareunderstresstendtohaveunstablepersonalbehaviors.Inotherwords,whenpeoplehave
5、pressures,theymaychoosecertainactivitiestorelievestress.However,thereareunstablepersonalbehaviorscouldbechosen,suchasovereating,drinking,smokingandgambling(Zellneretal.,2006;Bergevinetal.,2006).Theseactivitiesareharmfulandtheycouldbringcrisesinfamilieswhichareunderpressu
6、res.Inaddition,criminalactivitiestendtobechosenwhenpeoplehaveexcessivestress.Forexample,itispossiblesomepeoplemaychoosecriminalassaulttofemaleaftertheysufferposttraumaticstressdisorder(Dancu,Riggs,Hearst-Ikeda,Shoyer,&Foa,1996).Therefore,stressisbadforlifeandsociety.Stre
7、sshasdisadvantages,howeveritcouldhasadvantages.Thefirstadvantageisthatstresscouldallowpeopleworkhardandefficiently.Peopletendtoconcentrateonsomethingwhentheyareunderstress.Forinstance,studentsprobablyspendmoretimeonstudyingiftheyhaveexams,especially,attheendoftheirsubjec
