1、StandardMethodofTestforResistanceofConcretetoChlorideIonPenetrationAASHTODesignation:T259-021.SCOPE1.1.Thismethodcoversthedeterminationoftheresistanceofconcretespecimenstothepenetrationofchlorideion.Itisintendedforuseindeterminingtheeffectsofvariationsinthepropertiesofconcr
2、eteontheresistanceoftheconcretetochlorideionpenetration.Variationsintheconcretemayinclude,butarenotlimitedto,changesinthecementtypeandcontent,water-cementratio,aggregatetypeandproportions,admixtures,treatments,curing,andconsolidation.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoprovideaqua
3、ntitativemeasureofthelengthofservicethatmaybeexpectedfromaspecifictypeofconcrete.1.2.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthepreferredstandard.2.TESTSPECIMENS2.1.ThespecimensforuseinthistestshallbeslabsmadeandcuredinaccordancewiththeapplicablerequirementsofT126,“Makinga
4、ndCuringConcreteTestSpecimensintheLaboratory.”Notel-Thismethodcontemplatestheuseofaminimumoffourspecimensforeachevaluationwitheachslabnotlessthan75mm(3in.)thickandaminimumsurfaceareaof17,500mm2(28squareinches).2.2.Forthistestthespecimensshallberemovedfrommoistcuringat14days
5、ofageunlessearlierremovalisrecommendedbythemanufacturerofaspecialconcrete.Thespecimensshallthenbestoreduntil28daysofageinadryingroomofthetypespecifiedbyT160,LengthChangeofHardenedHydraulicCementMortarandConcrete.2.3.Whenthetestmethodisusedtoevaluateconcretetreatments,thesla
6、bsshallbefabricatedfromconcretehavingacementfactorof390kg/m3(658Ib/yd3),awater-cementratiomassof0.5,andanaircontentof6f1percent.Theconcretetreatmentshallbeappliedat21daysofageandinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’srecommendationsforfieldusage.Note2-Iffieldapplicationofasealerb
7、ysprayingisrecommended,thesealershouldbeappliedtothespecimensbysprayingratherthanbrushing.2.4.Whenaspecialoverlaymaterialistobeevaluated,theconcreteslabshallbecast50mm(2in.)thickusingthemixdesignspecifiedunderSection2.3andthenthespecialoverlaymaterialshallbeplaced25mm(1in.)
