2、dedbecauseofthediversityofrainfallandcatchmentcharacteristics.TheparametersinvolvedintheSCSmethodareRainfall:Allrainfalleventsareassumedtobe24-hourduration.RainfallpatternshavebeenstatisticallycategorizedintofourtypesdependinguponthegeographicalregionsoftheUS.The4typesofregionsandth

3、evarious24-hourrainfalldepthsfordifferentreturnperiodsaregivenintheformofmapswithisohyets.Infiltration:Lossesduetoinfiltration,evapo-transpirationandothercauses(e.g.depressionstorage)aredescribedbyasetofcurvenumbers(CN).Eachdrainagebasinisassignedacurvenumberbaseduponthetypeofsoil,a

4、ntecedentsoilmoisturecontent,andsurfaceconditionssuchasvegetation.TheCNvaluesaregiveninTableformfordifferenthydrologicalsoilgroups.EachsoiltypeisassignedahydrologicsoilgroupA,B,C,orD.GrouptypeArepresentsthehighestrateofinfiltrationwhilegrouptypeDrepresentsthelowestrate.Ifthebasincon
