3、ershaveobviouslylaidmoreimportanceonthetestofreadingcomprehension,incompassionwiththepreviousNationalMatriculationTests.Becauseofthetimelimitation,studentshavetofinishitquicklyandaccuratelywhenreading.Toachievethegoal,studentsneedtodevelopgoodreadingmethodsandhabitstopromotereadingefficie
4、ncy.I.AttachingImportancetotheAccumulationofVocabularyandUsageHighbuildingsrisefromthegroundandwecan’tbuildhighbuildingswithoutsolidfoundation.Therefore,ifthereisnobasiclanguageknowledge,wewon’tbeabletoreadandunderstand.Accordingtothestatisticalcharacteristicsofvocabulary,Americanlinguist
5、,Rriller(19780),said:Ifweknow25mostcommonEnglishwords,wecanrecognize33%ofthewordsoneverypageonaverage;ifweknow135commonlyusedwords,thewordsrecognizedbyusonapagewillbe50%;ifweknow2500words,wewillrecognize78%;if5000,wewillrecognize80%;onceweknow10,000,thewordswerecognizewillpossiblybe92%one
6、achpageonaverage.It’sclearthatreadingabilityisinseparablefromhowmuchourvocabularyis.Atpresent,thevocabularyofmoststudentsissmall,whichisthemainfactoraffectingtheimprovementofstudents’readingability.Intherecentyears,thetotalamountofvocabularyinthefivereadingpassagesfortheNationalMatriculat
