2、peciallyyourparents. Asafatheroffourcollegegraduates,Iknowhowproudyouparentsareofyourchildren’sachievement,howhopefulyouarefortheirfuture,andhowmanyconcerns–largeandsmall–youhaveatthismoment. Letmetrytoreassureyou.Yourchildrenaregoingtoloveithere! Andyouare
3、goingtoenjoyyourassociationwithYale,too,whetheryouareareturninggraduateoroneofthevastmajorityofparentswhoneversetfootinNewHavenuntilyourchildrenstartedtothinkaboutwheretogotocollege. YoumaytakecomfortinlearningthatsurveyshaveshownthatYaleparentsarethemostsa
4、tisfiedintheIvyLeague. So,welcometotheYalefamily! Wearesopleasedtohaveyourchildrenwithus,andwewilldoourbesttoprovidethemwithabundantopportunitiestolearnandthriveinthefouryearsahead.Andtoyou,theClassof2014,Imakethesamepledge. Foryou,thesenextfouryearswillbea
5、timeofopportunityunlikeanyother. Hereyouaresurroundedbyastonishingresources:fascinatingfellowstudentsfromallovertheworld,alearnedandcaringfaculty,intimateresidentialcollegecommunities,amagnificentlibrary,twoextraordinaryartmuseums,anoutstandingmuseumofnatur
6、alhistory,superbathleticfacilities,andstudentorganizationscoveringeveryconceivableinterest—theperformingarts,politics,andcommunityserviceamongthem. Youwillhavecompletefreedomtoexplore,learnaboutnewsubjects,meetnewpeople,andpursuenewpassions. Iwanttoencourag
7、eyou,ineverywaythatIcan,tomakethemostofthisrareanduniqueopportunity.Let’sstartwithyouracademicprogram. Mostlikely,youwillbeoverwhelmedbythemorethan2000coursesavailabletoyou. Youwillinevitablymissouton98%ofthem. Butletmeurgeyounonethelesstosamplewidely. Each
