3、IIIoverviewsthegeneralparadigmsthatrelatetoembeddingenergy-awarenessinthedesign,inthedevicesandintheprotocolsofnetworks.canbeexploitedtoreduceenergyconsumption.SectionIVInthiswork,wefirstformulateamoreprecisedefinitionofintroducesthecriteriaforataxonomyofthegreennetworkingthe“green”attribute.Wefurt
4、hermoreidentifyafewparadigmssolutions,whichwethenapplytosurveythestateoftheartthatarethekeyenablersofenergy-awarenetworkingresearch.inSectionsV–VII.SectionIXinsteadbrieflyoverviewstheWethenoverviewthecurrentstateoftheartandprovideacurrentresearchtrendsinareasthatarecloselyrelatedto,buttaxonomyofth
5、erelevantwork,withaspecialfocusonwirednetworking.Atahighlevel,weidentifyfourbranchesofgreenoutofthescopeofthissurvey–namely,computeranddata-networkingresearchthatstemfromdifferentobservationsonthecenterarchitecturesandwirelessnetworking.Theproblemrootcausesofenergywaste,namely(i)AdaptiveLinkRate,
6、(ii)ofnetworkenergymeasurementisaddressedinSectionX,Interfaceproxying,(iii)Energy-awareinfrastructuresand(iv)devotingspecialcaretoissuestiedtothecomparisonofEnergy-awareapplications.Inthiswork,wedonotonlyexploredifferentsolutions.Finally,SectionXIpresentsasummaryspecificproposalspertainingtoeachof
