2、boravailabletothem.Rather,theyareinfluencedbythecostsincurredofutilizingvolunteerlabor.Thisarticleprovidesamodestfirstlookatthedemandforvolunteersbynonprofitinstitutions.Specifically,thearticlepresentsaneconomicanalysisofthedemandofvolunteerlaborbyhospitalsintheTorontoareaandexaminessomeofthefac
3、-torsthatmaydeterminethehospitals’willingnesstousevolunteerlabor.Usingdatagen-eratedfrom28hospitalsinToronto,whichuseatotalofmorethan2millionvolunteerhrperyear,theauthorsshowthatthequantityofvolunteerhoursdemandedisadecreasingfunctionoftheircosts.Otherfactorssuchasproductivity,output,andlabormar
