3、xoskeletonisanaturalcompositeconsistingofhighlymineralizedchitin–proteinfibersarrangedinatwistedplywoodorBouligandpattern.Thereisahighdensityofporecanaltubulesinthedirectionnormaltothesurface.Thesetubuleshaveadualfunction:totrans-portionsandnutritionandtostitchthestructuretogether.Tensiletestsi
4、nthelongitudinalandnormaltothesurfacedirectionswerecarriedoutonwetanddryspecimens.Samplestestedinthelongitudinaldirectionshowedaconvexshapeandnoevidenceofpermanentdeformationpriortofailure,whereassamplestestedinthenormalorientationexhibitedaconcaveshape.Theresultsshowthatthecom-positeisanisotr
