5、organizationaldesignforthe®rm'slogisticsactivities.Amongothers,theseinvolvewhetherspecialistsshouldbedevotedtotacklingspeci®ctasks(suchaswarehouselayout),thelevelinthe®rm'shierarchyatwhichdecisionscriticaltologisticsshouldbemade(suchaswhoshoulddecidethenum
6、berandlocationof®nishedgoods®eldwarehouses),andthecon®gurationofthelogisticsfunctionitself(suchasthenumberofsub-ordinatesreportingdirectlytotheseniorlogisticsexecutive).Inarecentreviewarticle,Chowetal.(1995)saidselectinganappropriateorganizationalstructure
7、forlogisticswhich`matches'or`®ts'the®rm'scontextandstrategyimpactsperformance.Theirpaperreviewsagrowingbodyoflogis-ticsliteratureoninterrelationshipsamongorganizationaldesign,context,andstrategy.Theunder-lyingpremiseisthatrelationshipsbetweenorganizational
