2、hefluorescencemicroscopytechnique.TheresultswerecomparedwiththosefromahardwoodKraftpulp.AtasameOBAcharge,thefluorescentintensityofOBA-treatedKraftpulpwasstrongerthanthatoftheOBA-treatedHYP.Interestingly,fortheaspenHYP,theOBAdiffusionoccurredfromboththefibresurfaceinward,andthelumenoutward,w
3、hilefortheKraftpulp,theOBAdiffusionoccurredmainlyfromthefibresurfaceinward.ThedifferencebetweenmechanicalandKraftpulpingprocesses,(mechanicalpulpingproducesABSTRACTopen-endedfibreswhilechemicalpulpingproducesintactfibres),canaccountforthedifferenceintheOBAdiffusionbetweentheHYPandKraftpulp.
