3、anddevelopment,butthedescriptivematerialisnecessarilybriefbecausetheseandotherimportantaspectsofcombustorperformancearedescribedmorefullyinsubsequentchapters.BearinginmindthepressuresandexigenciesofwartimeBritainandGermany,andthelackofknowledgeandexperienceavailabletothedesi
4、gner,itisperhapshardlysurprisingthatthefirstgenerationofgasturbinecom-bustorswerecharacterizedbywidevariationsinsize,geometry,andthemodeoffuelinjection.Withthepassageoftimeandthepost-warliftingofinformationexchange,somecommonalitiesindesignphilosophybegantoemerge.Byaround195
