5、tingmembersofTC9.9forreviewandapproval.Inthisdocumenttheterm‘server’isusedtogenericallydescribeanyITequipment(ITE)suchasservers,storage,networkproducts,etc.usedindata-center-likeapplications.ExecutiveSummaryASHRAETC9.9createdthefirsteditionofthe‘Therm

6、alGuidelinesforDataProcessingEnvironments’in2004.PriortothattheenvironmentalparametersnecessarytooperatedatacenterswereanecdotalorspecifictoeachITmanufacturer.InthesecondeditionoftheThermalGuidelinesin2008ASHRAETC9.9expandedtheenvironmentalrangefordat

7、acenterssothatanincreasingnumberoflocationsthroughouttheworldwereabletooperatewithmorehoursofeconomizerusage.AtthetimeofthefirstThermalGuidelinesthemostimportantgoalwastocreateacommonsetofenvironmentalguidelinesthatITequipmentwouldbedesignedtomeet.Alt

8、houghcomputingefficiencywasimportant,performanceandavailabilitytookprecedencewhencreatingtheguidelinesandtemperatureandhumiditylimitsweresetstaccordingly.Progressingthroughthefirstdecadeofthe21century,increasedemphasishasbeenplacedoncomputinge
