2、tingit.Inhistory,theblackholewasfirstdiscussedbyLaplaceundertheNewtonmechanics,whoseeventhorizonradiusisthesameastheSchwarzschild’ssolutionoftheEinstein’svacuumfieldequations.Ifallthoseobjectshavingsuchaneventhorizonradiusbutdifferentgravitationalfieldsarecalledasblackholes,thenonecansimulat
3、ecertainpropertiesoftheblackholesusingelectromagneticfieldsandmetamaterialsduetothesimilarpropagationbehavioursofelectromagneticwavesincurvedspaceandininhomogeneousmetamaterials.InarecenttheoreticalworkbyNarimanovandKildishev,anopticalblackholehasbeenproposedbasedonmetamaterials,inwhichth
4、etheoreticalanalysisandnumericalsimulationsshowedthatallelectromagneticwaveshittingitaretrappedandabsorbed.Herewereportthefirstexperimentaldemon-strationofsuchanelectromagneticblackholeinthemicrowavefrequencies.Theproposedblackholeiscomposedofnon-resonantandresonantmetamaterialstructures,
5、whichcantrapandabsorbelectromag-neticwavescomingfromalldirectionsspirallyinwardswithoutanyreflectionsduetothelocalcontrolofelectromagneticfieldsandtheeventhorizoncorrespondingtothedeviceboundary.Itisshownthattheabsorptionratecanreach99%inthemicrowavefrequencies.Weexpectthattheelectromagnet
