3、unctionblockslikeLNAs,mixersandVCOsincontextwithmultimode-/multiband-SoCapplications.I.IntroductionTheevolutionofdigitalwirelesssystemsfrompurevoicecentricliketheearlyGSMsystemstocurrentmobilemultiband-/multimode-broadbandsystemsforvoice,data,positionandmultimediatransmissionwithgoodqualit
4、yofserviceisstronglycoupledtothecontinuousprogressofsiliconCMOS-technology.Thisdevelopmentwouldhavebeenimpossiblewithouttheongoingprocessofdevicedownscalingandconsequently-performanceadvancement.Theintegrationofsuchsystemsononesinglechip(System-on-Chip,SoC)isthecurrentdevelopmentmainstream
5、aroundtheworld.Data-rateandmobilitytrade-offsanddifferentstandardslike2G,3G,Bluetooth,WLAN,GPSanddigitalmultimediabroadcastingareleadingtomultiband-/multimode-requirements.Integrationwithdigitalpart,highintegrationdensityandlowpowerconsumption,excellentRFperformanceandlowcostundermassprodu
6、ctionaspectsarefurtherrequirements.FirstSoCdemonstrationsshow,thatpresentCMOStechnologiesseemtobeabletofulfilalltheserequirements.Theseandfuturedevelopmentsleadtotheinexorabletrendtowardsfurtherminiaturizationundsupplypowersaving.Thiswillaffordnewchallenges.Specialrequirementsonwaferproces
7、seslikeleakageandelectromagneticinterferencehavetobeconsidered.NewradioarchitecturesandcircuittopologieswillevolveandtheRFsignalprocessingwillmovecloserintodigitaldomainandtotheantenna[1].Classicanaloguecircuitswillchangetomorefull-swingdigital-logic-likeones,
