3、roftheCentred'analyseetdemathematiquesociales(CAMS)attheEcoledeshautesetudesensciencessociales(EHESS)inParis.Highlyregardedinternationally,bothasamathematicianandascholar,ProfessorBerestyckihasbeenawardedtheFrenchLegionofHonor,thehighestdecorationbestowedbyFrance.Herecentlyass
4、umedtheroleasDirectoroftheUniversityofChicago’sMSFMprogram,andisbringingtoitaglobalview.Intheaccompanyinginterview,ProfessorBerestyckishareshisthoughtsregardingtheprogram,itsattractiontostudentsanditsfuture.Q.Henri,theUniversityofChicago’sFinancialMathematicsProgramisnow15year
5、sold.Itwasthepioneerinthisadvancedtypeofprogram.AsDirector,whatdoyoulookforgoingforward?H:Firstofall,Ithinkitshouldbesaidthatanenormousamounthasbeenachievedsofar.Andreally,it’slargelythankstotheeffortsofthefoundersofthisprogram.Inparticular,praiseshouldgoNielsNygaard,whohadavi
6、sionaboutcombiningahighlevelofacademicqualitywithpracticaltraining.It’sourtrademark.Manyprogramsofferthatcombination,butwehavebeenfortunateenoughtoachieveaparticularlyhappymixinthatregard.Whatwewanttodonowisgoevenfurther,whilestillworkingtomaintainourcurrentstandardofacademice
7、xcellence.Wehavesomeveryambitiousprojectsintheworksforourprogram,andatthesametime,weareaddingadvancedtraininginnewareas.We’remakingplanstodevelopnewcourseworkincomputerscienceandnewopportunitiesthatexistinregulation.Thiswillbeastrongsourceforjobs,astherewillbe,inthenearfuture,
