3、gresearcheffortshavebeenshiftedtowardsthedevelopmentofsemi-activestructuralcontrolsystems.Toplacesemi-activecontrolsystemswithinaproperframeofreference,thispaperbeginswithaqualitativedescriptionandcomparisonofpassive,active,andsemi-activecontrolsystemsforprotectin
4、gstructuressubjectedtoearthquakeinducedgroundmotion.Adetailedliteraturereviewofsemi-activecontrolsystemsisthenprovidedwhichprovidesreferencestoboththeoreticalandexperimentalresearchbutconcen-tratesondescribingtheresultsofexperimentalwork.Speci®cally,thereviewfocus
