2、fied.IfonlywecouldmakeBuddhismintosomethinglike,prayersthreetimesaday,onceinalifetimevisitBodhgaya,maybeonceamontheveryyearfasting,IthinkBuddhismwouldthenattractalotofpeople.Butthatisnotthecase.WithinourshortspanoftimehereitisalmostimpossibletotalkaboutthewisdomoftheBuddha.ThefactthatBuddhismisno
3、tthateasytocomprehendis,partlybecause—ifBuddhismisareligion,whichIthinkitis—thisisonereligionthatemphasisessomuchonwisdom;itisamorewisdomorientatedreligion.Everythingelse,compassion,ethics,morality,generosity,allthesearesecondary,whichiswhatShantidevasaidintheninthchapter,thewisdomchapterofhisBod
4、hisattvacharya-avatara..Whatiswisdom?WithmyverylimitedunderstandingofBuddhism,Ithinktheidentityofwisdomisverycomplicatedbecauseit'ssupposedlyamindinitsheightofnormality.Butwhatisnormality?Thatisaverydifficultsubjecttodiscuss.IamemphasisingthisbecauseasItravelpeopleaskmequestionslike,"Whatistherol
