6、ofasemantictheoryofdetermination,basedonthedistinctionoffourbasicconceptuallexicaltypesofnouns:sortal,individual,relationalandfunctional.Itwillbearguedthatthefunctionofdeterminationessentiallyistoformasortal,individual,relationalorfunctionalconceptonthebasisofthelexical1meaningof
7、theCNPwiththepossibleadditionoffurtherconceptualcontent.Thelexicaltypeofthenounanditstypeunderdeterminationneednotmatch.Onthecontrary,determinationcanyieldanytypeofNPconceptfromanylexicaltypeofnoun.Therefore,thefocusofthetheorywillbeontheinteractionoflexicalnounmeaningwithdetermi
