3、erms(7-6),theothersetisa5thorderWENOschemewitha4thordercentraldi®erencing(5-4).Forthispurpose,afullyconservative6th-ordercentraldi®erencingfortheviscoustermsofcompressible°owsisdeveloped.Thenewcentraldi®erencingschemeusesthesamestenciloftheWENOscheme.Noexplicitsubgridscalemodelsareusedfor

4、theLES.Thespanlengthhasasigni¯cante®ectonthesolution.The5-4schemeagreesbetterwiththeexperimentwiththespanlengthof1Dandcoarsemesh,whereasthe7-6schemeperformsbetteratthere¯nedmeshwiththespanlengthof¼D.However,bothschemeshavepoorerresultswiththespanlengthof¼D.1IntroductionLargeeddysimulation

5、(LES)hasbeenregardedasaviableengineeringtoolwithrapidlyenhancedcomputerarchitectureandmathematicalmodeling[1].Thepresenceofvariousregimesinthe°owoveracylindermakesthecomputationofthis°owaninterestingandchallengingtask[2].Duringthepastdecade,manylargeeddysimulations(LES)havebeenperformedfo

6、rsubcriticalReynoldsnumbers,especiallyatReD=3900,mainlyduetotheavailabilityoftheexperimentalresultsofLourencoandShih[3]andOngandWallace[4].This°owhasalsobeenusedasabenchmarkcasetoexaminetheoreticalissuespertainingtotheapplicationofLESingeneralizedcurvilinearcoordinatesystems[5].Thereisage

7、neralconsensusthatlow-orderupwindschemesarenotabletopredictcorrectlythebasesuctioncoe±cient,separationanglesandthesizeandstructureoftherecirculationzonebehindthecylinder.Thetwodominantsubgrid-scale(SGS)modelsforLESareSmagoriskyanddynamicsubgrid-scalestressmodels.Bor
