2、rofilesinaDCplasmatorchandintheresultingplume.ItisbasedontheresolutionofconservationequationsusingtheSimplemethodafterPatankar.Inthefirstpart,weillustratetheeffectsoftheturbulence,using,ontheonehand,twoPrandtl'smixinglengthmodelsand,ontheotherhand,astandardk-emo
3、del.Wealsoshowtheinfluenceofphysicalparametersliketheinletmassflowrate,thecurrentintensity,andthekindofgas(argonorair)onthecharacteristicsoftheplasma.Thesecondpartofthisstudypresentsacomparisonofthemodelwithexperimentalresultsencounteredintheliterature.Theprofil

5、oaidinthedevelopmentofthetechnology,manystudiesofelectricarcs,especiallynontransferredarcs,havebeenmade.Comparisonbetweenexperimentalresultsandthemodelsleadstorefinementofthecalculationbytakingincreasinglysophisticatedphenomenaintoaccount.Manyofthesestudieswereo
6、nlymadeontheplasmajet.Wecanmen-tionforexamplethemeasurementsofCapettiandPfender(1)andDilawarietal.(2)OtherworksbyMcKelligetetal.(3)andChangandRamshaw(4)havetreatednumericalsimulationsofargonplasmajetsflowingintocoldairandnitrogenrespectively.Foralltheseapplicati
