2、heirfriendsintosocialcircles(e.g.`circles'onGoogle+,and`lists'onFacebookandTwitter),howevertheyarelaborioustoconstructandmustbeupdatedwheneverauser'snetworkgrows.Inthispaper,westudythenoveltaskofauto-maticallyidentifyingusers'socialcircles.Weposethistaskasamulti-membershipnodeclusteringproblemonau
3、ser'sego-network,anetworkofconnectionsbetweenherfriends.Wedevelopamodelfordetectingcirclesthatcombinesnetworkstructureaswellasuserpro leinformation.Foreachcirclewelearnitsmembersandthecircle-speci cuserpro lesimilaritymetric.Modelingnodemembershiptomultiplecirclesallowsustodetectoverlappingaswella
4、shierarchicallynestedcircles.Experimentsshowthatourmodelaccuratelyidenti escirclesonadiversesetofdatafromFacebook,Google+,andTwitter,forallofwhichweobtainhand-labeledground-truth.1IntroductionOnlinesocialnetworksallowustofollowstreamsofpostsgeneratedbyhundredsofourfriendsandacquaintances.Thepeople
5、wefollowgenerateoverwhelmingvolumesofinfor-mationandtocopewiththe`informationoverload'weneedtoorganizeourpersonalsocialnetworks(Agarwaletal.,2008;ChenandKarger,2006;El-Arinietal.,2009).Oneofthemainmechanismsforusersofsocialnetworkingsitestoorganizetheirnetworksandthecontentgeneratedbythemistocateg
