4、tems;(060.4080)Modulation1.IntroductionOrthogonalfrequency-divisionmultiplexing(OFDM)isapromisingmodulationtechniquewellknownfromwirelessandwiredcommunications,whichrecentlyhasalsobeendiscussedforopticalcommunications.Amajorreasonisthatitcanbedesignedtobeextremelytoleranttochromaticdispersion(C
5、D)[1,2].AnothermainadvantageisitshighflexibilityasforexamplethedataratecanbeadaptedeasilytotheavailableOSNR[3].ConventionalOFDMimplementationutilizesFouriertransformastheorthogonaltransformtogeneratethesignalwaveformfromdenselyspacedlow-ratesubcarriers.Thesesubcarriersareorthogonal,whichistheke
6、yfeatureofOFDMtopreventinter-carrierinterference(ICI).Assinusoidsareinfinitelylongintimedomain,aproperwindowinghastobeapplied,whichconsequentlycausesout-of-bandradiationinfrequencydomainandperformancedegradationondispersivechannelsbecauseofinter-symbolinterference(ISI)[4].InordertopreventISIdue
7、toCD,acyclicprefix(CP)canbeappendedtoeachOFDMblock,whichincreasesthetolerancetoCDsignificantly.However,theadditionofCPimposesanincreaseinrequiredbandwidthandsamplingrateofDA/AD-converterswhicharealreadyattheirlimitsforhighdatarate
