3、n,WAUSAABSTRACTTheadventofsatellite-basedtime-keepingsystemsandadvancesincomputertechnologyhavemadepossibleprotectiverelaysamplingsynchronizationwithin1s.Theserelayscannowprovidesynchronizedphasormeasurementsthateliminatetheneedtohavedifferentdevicesforprotection,control,andelectricpowersys
4、temanalysisforsystem-wideapplicationsandtraditionalprotectionapplications.System-wideapplicationshavedifferentsamplingandsignalprocessingrequirementsthandotraditionalprotectionapplications.Thesedifferentrequirementsnormallyareaddressedwithdifferentdevices,onedeviceforeachspecificfunction.Thi
5、spaperproposescombiningtheaforementionedapplicationsinasingledevicewithaflexiblesignalprocessingsystem.Theadditionofsynchrophasormeasurementinaprotectiverelayresultsinincreasedpowersystemreliabilityandprovideseasierdisturbanceanalysis,protection,andcontrolcapabilitiesthandoapproacheswithdiff
