2、untryofThailand.ItisachallengeforEGATtooperatethesystemmaintainingthehighsecurityandreliabilitywiththeoptimaleconomiccostsofoperationandinvestment.ThevoltagestabilityproblemistheoneofthemostconcernedissuesforthepowersysteminThailand.Duetothedelayofthetransmissionlinesandgenerationcon

3、structionprojects,Thailand’spowersystemconfrontswiththevoltagestabilityproblemswhichmaycausethecascadetripofthetransmissionlinesandleadtotheblackoutinThailandpowergrid.Thevoltagestabilityproblemhastobeconsideredinmanyscenarios–thenormaloperation,thesinglecontingencyN-1andthedoublecon

4、tingencyN-2fortheparalleltransmissionlines.MostofthevoltageinstabilityinThailandmayoccurwhenthemajorequipmentinthepowersystemsuchasthetransmissionlinesorgeneratorstripfromthesystem.Inthispaper,theestimatingseverityrankingsforsinglelineoutagecontingenciesmethodandpower-voltagecurvestu

5、dyareusedasthemajortooltoanalyzethestaticvoltagestabilitybehaviorofthepowersystem.Thedynamicsimulationsarealsoperformedtounderstandandclassifythevoltagestabilityphenomena.ThepowersystemstudyisperformedinthenortheasternareaofThailandforthecasesstudy.Thenortheasternregionrequiredthepow

6、ertransferfromthesurroundedareaduringtheeveningpeakloadcondition.Ifthemajortransmissionlinesorgenerationinthenortheasternareatripoff,thevoltageinstabilitymayoccurandleadtothepowerfailureinthenortheasternarea.Thevoltagestabilitystudyisperformedtoindicatetheproblems.Notonlythealternati

7、vesolutionswerecomparedtogettheoptimalsolutionsbutalsothelimitationofthevoltagestabilitystudywasdiscussed.Theresultsofthestudywillbeusedtobetheguidelinesforthesystemoperatortomanagethesystempreventingthevoltageinstabilityinthesystemalsowillbeusedforplanningthepowertransmissionsystemt
