2、cularcaseof2DGaborwavelets.Completenesscriteriafor2DGaborimagerepresentationsareimportantbecauseoftheirincreasingroleinmanycomputervisionapplicationsandalsoinmodelingbiologicalvision,sincerecentneurophysiologicalevidencefromthevisualcortexofmammalianbrainssuggeststhatthefi

3、lterresponseprofilesofthemainclassoflinearly-respondingcorticalneurons(calledsimplecells)arebestmodeledasafamilyofself-similar2DGaborwavelets.Wethereforederivetheconditionsunderwhichasetofcontinuous2DGaborwaveletswillprovideacompleterepresentationofanyimage,andwealsofindse
