2、nuary2007Availableonline31January2007AbstractPolypyrrole(PPy)wasmodifiedwithferrocene(Fc)bydirectincorporationduringpolymerizationsoastoincreaseitssensitivityforcar-bonmonoxide(CO)gassensorapplications.Synthesiswascarriedoutbychemicaloxidativepolymerizationinthepresenceofferroce

3、neusingferricchloride.ThepresenceofthesespeciesinPPywasconfirmedbydifferentcharacterizationtechniques.TheCOresponsemea-surementswerecarriedoutforthesensorsfabricatedinasurfacecellmodewithactivePPy+FcfilmsbyexposingtoCOgas(300ppm)atroomtemperatureanditwasfoundthattheresponseaswell

4、astherecoverycharacteristicsofthesematerialsisveryfastanddependentonthefilmcomposition.Theresponsefactorwasfoundtobemaximumfora1.32mol%Fccontentinthepolymer.ThesevariousresultscanbeexplainedonthebasisofinteractionofCOmoleculeswithFeatomsoftheferrocenetogetherwithchargetransferin
