3、ofthecommunicativeuseoflanguage,orboth.Thisseriesisplayingavaluablepartinre•establishingthetraditional'openness'ofthestudyoflanguage.Theseriesincludesmanystudiesthatarein,oronthebordersof,variousfunctionaltheoriesoflanguage,andespecially(becauseithasbeent

4、hemostwidelyusedofthese)SystemicFunctionalLinguistics.Thegeneraltrendoftheserieshasbeentowardsafunctionalviewoflanguage,butthissimplyreflectstheworksthathavebeenofferedtodate.Theseriescontinuestobeopentoallapproaches,includingworksinthegenerativist-formal
