6、nthecentralareawerehandledbyaSVCclosetothecenter,atOmburuSubstation.TheNamibiantransmissionsystemisconnectedtotherelatively“strong”networkofEskom,SouthAfricainthesouthandahydropowerstationontheNamibianborderinthenorth(RuacanaPowerStation)whichsupplies“local”generation(theRuacanaPowerStationis
7、situatedabout1500kmfromtheEskomin-feedintheSouth)ThePre-2000network,especiallythe835kmlong220kVsouthernlinktoEskom,wasoftenloadedtoitsstabilitylimitswhenRuacanagenerationlevelswereloworzero.WiththegrowingNamibialoaditbecameincreasinglydifficu
